I Just Can’t Seem To Get Motivated

I hear people say it all the time. “I need to lose 30 pounds, but I just can’t seem to get motivated.” Or, “I know what to do so I can lose this weight and wear my clothes again, but I just can’t seem to get motivated.” Even, “I know I would feel so much better if I just lost some of this weight, but I just can’t seem to get motivated.”

The problem isn’t that you can’t get motivated. Your motivation is there. It’s inside you. Looking at you in the mirror every day. You just feel overwhelmed by it all. You are automatically thinking, I am going to have to cut out this. I am going to have to run my butt off.

So then, you start to make excuses and procrastinate. “Well Bob’s retirement party is Saturday. No need in even thinking about starting before then.” “I’m not going to have the time to exercise 3 hours a day. I might as well just forget about it.” “The holidays are right around the corner. I will just wait til the first of the year.”

I am encouraging you to stop comparing yourself to a marathon runner, when you haven’t walked a half mile in years. If you just start now; doing something; take the stairs at work. Park further away from the entrance. make a couple better eating decisions today than normal. Start and the motivation will build. Gain some momentum and watch your motivation start to engulf you.

Visualization is a GREAT motivational developer. Imagine yourself how you want to look in a certain outfit. Then, go buy that outfit ion the size and cut it is in your vision. Hang it in a spot that you see every day and BELIEVE you will wear it with pride when you reach your goal. Now you are motivated. So just “Make It Happen”!jean-struggle
