Have you ever heard that saying? Let me put it into perspective when it comes to achieving your weight loss goals.
It means that you can not expect to achieve a long term goal in a short amount of time. It means that you have to prepare to run the whole race and push through to the finish line. In other words, you can not expect to lose one hundred pounds in just a few short weeks and get frustrated and quit if that unrealistic goal is not achieved. You have to finish the race and be willing to push through the grueling process all the way to the end.
But, it does not mean that you should just jog through this journey. Instead, you should set short term goals and pursue those with a sprinter like mentality. Taking off with intensity, blocking out everything around you and pushing with all you got to that short term finish line.
Let’s use a one pound weight loss goal as an example. You plan to lose one hundred pounds in a year. You short term goal would be to lose two pounds per week. Focusing on the two pound a week goal with a sprinter type mentality is going to lead to your long term goal success.
Getting complacent and comfortable by thinking you have a year to achieve your goal will only lead to disappointment. Allowing yourself to think you have plenty of enough time to achieve your goal and procrastinating will only set you up to fail.
Pursuing short term goals with intensity and purpose will lead to you finishing your marathon with a victory. So, bust those short term goals and MAKE IT HAPPEN!
